Ayo Adepoju brings over two decades of leadership experience, having made substantial contributions to Ecobank’s financial strategy and transformation since joining in 2012. His diverse expertise spans financial management, capital markets, governance, investor relations, business performance management, and enterprise transformation, among others. He has held several leadership roles within Ecobank, including Group Financial Controller and Group Head of Business Performance and Analytics, before ascending to the role of Group CFO.
Throughout his tenure, Ayo has been instrumental in leading major capital market transactions such as Eurobonds, Basel III-compliant instruments, and sustainability-linked debt. These initiatives have significantly strengthened Ecobank’s international presence, increased transparency, and bolstered investor relations.

Ayo’s appointment reflects his proven leadership and deep institutional knowledge, which has played a crucial role in Ecobank’s financial resilience and long-term growth. Ayo holds a First-Class Honours degree from the University of Lagos and is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) and the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), UK. He also holds an MBA from Warwick Business School and a Ph.D. in Organizational Leadership from Regent University, USA. His executive education includes programs at Wharton, London Business School, and the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School in 2024. Ayo is also a published author and a respected thought leader in finance and organizational strategy.
